Tax Benefits of Bequests

One of the significant advantages of making a bequest is the potential tax benefit. Bequests to qualified charitable organizations like AngelOne are generally exempt from federal estate taxes. This means that your gift can reduce the taxable value of your estate, potentially lowering the overall tax burden on your heirs. Additionally, because bequests are revocable during your lifetime, you retain control over your assets and can adjust your plans if your circumstances change.

By including AngelOne in your estate plans, you not only create a meaningful legacy but also provide valuable support that helps us continue our mission to bring hope and the Adventist message to people around the world.

Bequests: Leaving a Legacy Through Your Will or Trust

A bequest is a simple yet profound way to leave a lasting legacy by including AngelOne in your will or trust. This type of planned gift allows you to support our mission aviation projects within the Seventh-day Adventist Church, ensuring that your commitment to spreading the gospel continues beyond your lifetime.

What Is a Bequest?

A bequest is a provision in your will or trust that directs a specific asset, amount of money, or a percentage of your estate to be given to AngelOne after your passing. You can designate a bequest to benefit our organization in several ways:

Specific Bequest

This involves leaving a particular asset, such as cash, securities, or property, to AngelOne.

Percentage Bequest

You may choose to leave a percentage of your total estate to AngelOne.

Residual Bequest

After other bequests and obligations have been fulfilled, you can leave the remainder of your estate to AngelOne.

Contingent Bequest

This provision ensures that if your primary beneficiaries do not survive you, your estate or a portion of it will be directed to AngelOne.

How to Make a Bequest

Including AngelOne in your will or trust is straightforward. You can do this by adding a few sentences to your existing trust or will or by working with your attorney to create new ones. The exact language you’ll need may vary depending on your goals, but here is a sample provision:

“I give, devise, and bequeath [enter amount or percentage] to AngelOne, a nonprofit corporation organized and existing under the laws of the State of Indiana, with the principal business address of P.O. Box 1093, Calimesa, CA 92320, and federal tax identification number 85-3448321, to be used for its general purposes.”

You can specify how you would like your bequest to be used, or you can leave it unrestricted, allowing AngelOne to apply the funds where they are most needed.
